The issue of sales-tax nexus has been a hot button topic for a couple of years now, and today the Virginia Department of Taxation had some good news for e-commerce sellers. They announced their decision that simply having inventory stored in warehouses in Virginia does not constitute nexus, and sellers who have no other presence in the state need not collect or remit sales taxes. This is a big win for Amazon FBA sellers, and maybe other states will follow Virginia’s lead and this will become a trend moving forward.
